Danzworx | Intermediate Dance Classes | 10-13 Years Old

Our intermediate students are working through the levels of the syllabus in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary, and have the option of Hip Hop intermediate, or Funk 4. These students are also able to sit exams annually and are also given the opportunity to perform in our end of year show.

Ballet

Classical Ballet Technique has long been the foundation to poise and grace. Danzworx offers classes continuing through the NZAMD syllabus for our 10-13 year olds. When exams are finished, we dedicate our time to choreographing and polishing a dance for our end of year production.

Jazz

Our American Jazz classes run following the NZAMD Jazz syllabus and continue strengthening the fundamentals of Jazz while extending the students' own sense of style. We continue through the syllabus at this age group. When exams are completed, we dedicate our time to choreographing and polishing a dance for our end of year production.

Tap

Our American Tap classes continue through the NZAMD syllabus with exams run in each grade as appropriate. When exams are complete, we dedicate our time to choreographing and polishing a dance for our end of year production.

Funk

Funk is an open class designed to get our students up and moving. This is ideal for students wanting to dance without the challenge and expectation of learning a syllabus.

Hip hop

Our Hip Hop classes use the latest sounds combined with technique from old-school right through to pop and lock. We work through some syllabus work, as well as choreography and open classes to mix up our hip-hop style.

Contemporary

Contemporary allows the dancer to explore their senses through dance. It encourages breadth of movement and the contrasts of using weight and lift to create movement. We offer NZAMD syllabus classes starting at Introductory level, in this age group.

Intermediate Uniform

Ballet:

Magenta leotard with wrap skirt
Pink tights
Pink ballet flats with elastic
Optional wrap cardi
Optional leg warmers

Other classes:

Orange shorts, ¾ leggings or tights, or black harem pants
Coloured crop, coloured singlet, or black singlet with mesh insert.
(Boys have a singlet top)

Black socks with black tap shoes, jazz shoes, or dance sneakers
